The town of Bettembourg is located in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and has about 9,500 inhabitants. Through it flows the Mierbach, a tributary of the Alzette.
Bettembourg can be reached by car or train; there is a railway connection with marshalling yard. There are shopping opportunities for tourists here. Those keen to sample local fare can find restaurants to cater to them, and there are hotels locally to put up visitors.
The fairy-tale and recreation park makes a pleasant day trip for those travelling with children.
An interesting local attraction is the neo-Romanesque Church of the Assumption (Mariä Himmelfahrt), seat of the local deanery, constructed in 1887-89. St Willibrord's Chapel is an equally popular destination with tourists. The parish church of St Joseph was finished in 1902 and has been embraced as a tourist destination ever since.
