At the mouth of the ""Valley of Seven Castles"" nestles Eischen with its 1,750 residents.
In the bosom of romantic green woods, visitors here can find rest and recuperation from the hustle and bustle. Eischen's ring road is also the way to reach Clairefontaine, the resting place of Countess Ermesinde (1186-1247). Another port of call in the district is Rentert Chapel, built in 1671. Railway buffs can indulge their imagination along the Attert, which is another of the stretches of disused track that have been converted into a cycle path. In the Eischen valley (Aischental) itself, Hollenfels Castle and the baroque Ansembourg Castle are among the places worth visiting. The ruined fortress at Koerich, too, recalls this region's past times. Even Victor Hugo drew inspiration from this spot. To recover from sightseeing fatigue, visitors to Eischen have an array of hotels, inns and campsites to stay at.
