The second city of Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette, with its population of not quite 30,000, sits in the canton of the same name in the south of the Grand Duchy.
The transport links to and from here are excellent: there is both a railway station and a bus station, from which buses depart every quarter-hour, headed for all points of the compass.
Particularly worth seeing in the city are the Musée National de la Résistance, chronicling wartime Luxembourg, and City Hall (Rathaus). For music fans, the special highlight in Esch is the Rockhal venue.
