Pétange

Its 15,000 inhabitants make Pétange, in the canton of Esch, the fifth largest municipality in the Grand Duchy. Conveniently, the national rail network serves this town.
The national park around the tranquil settlements of Pétange, Lamadelaine and Rodange, which together make up Pétange municipality, is tempting for long walks. Plenty of tours are organised for walkers, offering fine views.
A steam train offers excursions to Fond-de-Gras, an old iron ore loading station, now part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage. On the Titelberg, a hill between Fond-de-Gras and Lamadelaine, an excavated Celto-Roman settlement can be viewed.
By way of shopping, the town centre plays host to fashion boutiques, gift shops, sports and angling shops, not forgetting sustenance. Hearty local fare and French delicacies are equally in demand hereabouts.
The visitor's overnight options range from hotels through holiday apartments to campsites.
