Informa has released results of it’s new survey for UK, Spain, Germany and Netherlands, entitled “The Mobile Consumer: Smartphone usage and behaviour 2012.”
Conducted in May 2012, the results of the survey show that smartphone users spend more than 32% than their non-smartphone counterparts – with iPhone users spending even more. The report also showed that smartphones continue to dominate (or grow significantly) across all age groups, however the 35-44 age group is the biggest group of smartphone owners.
BlackBerry continues to be popular with young people, with 28% market share with 16-18 year olds and 25% with 19-24 year olds. This declines considerably with the 25-34 year olds with BlackBerry accounting for just 15% with young professionals.
Interestingly, ‘The Mobile Consumer’ report found that Google powers more than 50% of the market in the Netherlands with Android and in the UK, a whopping 94% of iPhone users plan on replacing their current phone with another iPhone in the future.
seeker is built specifically for smartphones and can be downloaded free on iPhones from the Apple App Store and on Android from Google Play. It goes without saying that any business, regardless of its size or stature needs to be tuned into being more visible and attractive to this growing smartphone audience.
