Delft lies in the province of South Holland. It has just under 100,000 inhabitants and is one of the Netherlands' oldest cities. Its former zenith as a trading city is attested by many historic buildings in the old town, which is criss-crossed by canals. Delft is known for its porcelain factories and the Delft Blue ceramics made there.
