The Hague

With nearly 500,000 inhabitants, The Hague is the Netherlands' third-largest city and also the seat of government, although not the official capital.

The city is accessible via either of its two major railway stations (Den Haag Centraal and Hollands Spoor) or the A12 motorway, which extends from the A3 originating in Cologne and Ruhr.

The best-known sights include Noordeinde Palace (the Royal Family's governmental residence), the Binnenhof (a medieval complex of buildings housing the Dutch government) and the Peace Palace (home of the International Court of Justice and the Hague Academy of International Law).

There is a wide range of hotels in all price categories. There are also holiday homes, apartments and camping sites outside the city.
