Philadelphia lies in the north east of America in the state of Pennsylvania. Founded in 1681, Philadelphia was the historical place where American independence was declared. Philadelphia even was the capital city of the United States from 1790 to 1800. The city is fondly called "Philly" by its 1.5 million inhabitants; this term derives from the Greek meaning "brotherly love". In the historical center, Independence Hall and the Rodin Museum are worth a look. The museum contains the largest art collection of the artist outside of France. The Philadelphia Orchestra has been a firm part of the city's culture since 1900; the city lies between the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers.
