With a population of well over a million, Brussels is Belgium's biggest city and serves both as the Belgian capital and as the seat of the Royal Family. The city is well-known internationally as the headquarters of the European Union and of NATO.
Travellers arrive at one of the three main railway stations (North, Central and South/Midi), either of the two airports (Zaventem and Charleroi), or equally easily under their own steam, as the city is the hub of the national motorway network.
Accommodation needs can be seen to in one of the city's many hotels, of which there is no shortage in any category. Satisfaction for every palate can be found by scouring the city's roughly 1,800 restaurants. The most important attractions in Brussels are the Grand Place, St Michael's Cathedral, the Atomium and the world-famous Manneken-Pis.
