Collection and storage of user data

 

To optimize our services, we collect and store data for 30 days, such as the date and time at which the web page was accessed, the page from which you accessed our web page and similar information, as long as you do not object to the collection and storage of such data.

 

This will take place on an anonymized basis without personally identifying the user of the web page. User profiles may be created with the use of a pseudonym. In this case, no link will be made between the natural person whose details are concealed by the pseudonym and the user data that are collected. In addition to the map services and search functions, seeker also enables you to share locations with your friends and acquaintances in the form of collections, allowing you to prepare your travel together. Registration is required in order to use the service. If the user decides to skip the registration process they can continue to use seeker, but only with a restricted scope of functions. Under such circumstances, it is not possible to share locations and/or collections with other users.

 

You can register on our website or in our app, and in doing so provide details regarding your personal data. We will use your data in order to create and manage your user account and to communicate with you. The data will also be used for the purpose of being able to provide you with services on the sharing of the locations and/or collections. We will only process the data that you provide for internal purposes. This may also mean that we will legitimately forward your personal data to our contractual processor who will use the data for their internal purposes.

Registration via Social Single Sign-On (Facebook, Google)

 

seeker offers you the possibility of registering directly with an existing Facebook profile and/or a Google profile. If you are already logged into Facebook and/or Google on your device, you won’t need to sign into the seeker services separately in the future.

 

If you would like to complete your registration with seeker on your Facebook profile, please click on the “Register with Facebook” button. You will firstly be taken to the Facebook page and navigated through the sign in process. We receive the following information from your Facebook account from Facebook:

 

·      Surname, first name

·      Profile picture (if available), and

·      Email address.

 

This data will be saved by us in your seeker user account together with the information that you have registered with seeker via the social network Facebook.

If you would like to complete your registration with seeker on your Google profile, please click on the “Register with Google” button. You will firstly be taken to the Google page and navigated through the registration. We receive the following information from your Google account from Google:

These data will be saved by us in your seeker user account together with the information that you have registered with seeker via the social network Google.

 

We will process the stated data for the following purposes:

Registration by email

 

If you would like to complete your registration with seeker with the use of your email address, please click on the “Register by email” button. In the subsequent registration process, you will be requested to provide your email address and the following data: Name and password. You will then receive an email with an activation link. The registration will only be complete and your user account will only become active after the email address has been confirmed (double opt-in).

 

The following data will be stored when you register on our website:

·      Time and date of registration

·      Email address

·      Name

 

We will process the stated data for the following purposes:

Deletion of a user account

 

You are able to delete your user account including all the data that it contains at any time. In this respect, please note that the collections that you have created and which belong to your user account will also be deleted. If you have shared a collection, the users with whom you have shared it will no longer be able to access the collection. You will no longer be able to use the services of your account that require registration either.

Insofar as it is necessary for data to be stored for legal reasons, such data will be blocked and will no longer be available for any use that extends beyond such reasons.

Insofar as the data is no longer required for the aforementioned purposes, we shall erase it.

Permissions

 

For certain functions, the app has to be able to access certain services and data from your device. Depending on the mobile operating system that you use, this access may require your express approval. If we are to show you certain locations in your surroundings when you are on the move, you must provide the app with the authorization to access your location.

 

The app can also send you notifications concerning specific information if you are not actively using the app at the given moment in time. You will only be sent such notifications if you have expressly activated them.

 

To be able to send you these notifications, for example, concerning collections that were shared with you, the service that provides the push functions on your operating system (“Google Firebase Cloud Messaging” on Android, “Apple Push Notification Service” on iOS) will transmit an individual communication key (Token) to seeker.

 

To be able to use certain functions (for example, scanning QR codes) on Android, it is necessary to install additional plugins / apps. These may also ask for additional access privileges (for example, to the camera, microphone). On iOS, the installation of such plugins / apps is not necessary.

 

 

Newsletter

 

If you decide to register for our newsletter, you will receive a newsletter from us. For the purpose of security, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address that you have provided. With this double opt-in procedure, we make sure that you actually want to receive our newsletter and that you are also the owner of the email address provided.

This step serves our security in terms of our comprehension of contributions that contain unlawful content (insults, illegal political propaganda, etc.). In this case, we may be prosecuted for the comment or contribution and are therefore interested in the identity of the author.

 

The comments function can be subscribed to by third parties. If you decide to do this, we will send you an automatic confirmation email in order to check whether you are the holder of the provided email address on the basis of a double opt-in procedure.

Provision of services and delivery of goods

In accordance with the GDPR, Facebook Ireland agrees to take primary responsibility for the processing of the Insights data and to fulfill all the obligations according to the GDPR as regards the processing of Insights data.
